Day 01 US/Beijing
Board your flight for China today

Day 02 Arrival Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, your tour guide will meet you the airport and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 03 Beijing (B/L/D)
Today you will visit the Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world. From Tiananmen Square you will be able to enter the Forbidden City. This massive complex was the centre of the Ming and Qing dynasties and with almost 10,000 rooms this well-preserved imperial palace is the largest in the world. After lunch, we will ride a trishaw and tour the ancient city alleyways of the Hutongs and experience the lifestyle of the local people. Later, you will take a traditional Chinese sculled cruise on Houhai Lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery while being serenaded by a local musician playing classical Chinese music. After a rest, a sumptuous buffet dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 04 Beijing (B/L/SD)
Today you will experience the splendor of the Great Wall, the pride of China and one of the great Seven Wonders of the World. It is an amazing manmade structure built over 2000 years ago to protect China from northern invaders. Visit the Summer Palace, along with the largest and best preserved of all imperial palace gardens. You will marvel with fascination at the Marble Boat and the ornately painted Long Corridor. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Peking Duck Banquet and amazing Beijing acrobatics show.

Day 05 Beijing - Datong (B/L/D)
In the morning, tour the magnificent Temple of Heaven, a Ming Temple where the Emperors performed annual rites essential for the well being of their land. In the afternoon you will board a train to Datong. Upon arrival, a quick transfer will have you at your hotel so you can relax and enjoy the rest of your evening.

Day 06 Datong (B/L/D)
We will take a tour to Yungang Grottoes, which is comprised of 252 caves and 51,000 statues. The grottoes represent the outstanding achievement of Buddhist cave art in China in the 5th and 6th centuries. The Five Caves created by Tan Yao, with their strict unity of layout and design, constitute a classical masterpiece of the first peak of Chinese Buddhist art. Afterwards we will visit the beautiful Nice Dragon Screen.

Day 07 Datong - Taiyuan (B/L/D)
After a drive to Taiyuan, we will visit Hanging Temple and Yinxian Wooden Pagoda. The Hanging Temple was built during 386-534AD, and then restored in the year 1900. There are 40 wooden halls and structures linked by an ingenious system of pillars, posts and walkways. Yingxian Wooden Pagoda was built in 1056 and is the oldest wooden Buddhist pagoda in existence. This pagoda is a 9 story octagonal building and was actually constructed without using any nails at all.

Day 08 Taiyuan - Pingyao (B/L/D)
In the morning we will drive to Pingyao, which is the best preserved among the ancient towns in China. It is the assembly place of folk houses in north China where rows upon rows of buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties stand in extremely well preserved conditions. On the way, we will visit Qiao's Grand Courtyard, which encompasses an incredible 8724 square meters. It was the house of the richest family Qiao during the Qing Dynasty in China. Although two centuries have since passed, it still keeps its original splendor and architectural style.

Day 09 Pingyao - Taiyuan (B/L)
Take time to explore more of the small ancient town in the morning. After a short drive back to Taiyuan, we will visit the Jin Ancestral Temple, which was originally started in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 - 532 AD) to commemorate the memory of Shu Yu (Zhou Wu), the founder of the state of Jin.

Day 10 Taiyuan - Xian (B/L/D)
Today we fly to Xian, the most historic city in China and the capital of ancient China for 11 dynasties. An afternoon tour to Provincial Museum will excite your knowledge of this beautiful old city, and after you will be able to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Old City Wall.

Day 11 Xian (B/L/D)
Today's tour will be to the vast treasure of the underground army of the Terracotta Warriors. They are found at an archaeological site, which so far has yielded some 8000 ancient terracotta soldiers and horses. Each one is a unique, finely detailed sculpture. In the afternoon, we will visit a local village and the Grand Mosque. Dinner is a splendid dumpling banquet and a spectacular stage show at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.

Day 12 Xian – Luoyang (B/D)
Enjoy Xian at your leisure in the morning before you board train from Xian to Luoyang. Arrive in Luoyang in the evening where you will be met and transferred to hotel.

Day 13 Luoyang (B/L/D)
Today you will visit Longmen Cave, which contains the largest and most impressive collection of Early Chinese Buddhist cave art represented by well-preserved pagodas, carvings and statues. You will also visit the incredible White Horse Temple. Established by the Han Dynasty in 68 AD, it is the first temple built by the government after Buddhism had reached China.

Day 14 Luoyang - Shaolin - Kaifeng (B/L/D)
We will visit the Shaolin Monastery. Built in 495A.D, it is the cradle of Kung Fu (wushu) and Chinese Zen Buddhism. There are so many beautiful attractions here including the Hall of Heavenly Kings (Tianwangdian), the Pagoda Forest, the Dharma Cave and the Shaolin Temple Martial Art Training Centre. After touring the monastery it is on to Kaifeng, one of the capitals in ancient China. We will also view the Iron Pagoda-the symbolic building of Kaifeng City.

Day 15 Kaifeng – Zhengzhou / Shanghai (B/L/D)
A morning visit to the Millennium Theme Park of Qingming Festival will bring you back in history as you experience the social life of Ancient China in the 11th century AD. Visit the dragon pavilion, which is the original site of the ancient imperial palace. You may also walk around the imperial street of the northern Song Dynasty. In the evening you will drive to the Zhengzhou before boarding your flight for Shanghai.

Day 16 Shanghai (B/L/D)
You will visit the classical Ming Dynasty Yu Yuan Garden, followed by a stroll along the spacious promenade of the Bund and a visit to the modern Shanghai Museum.

Day 17 Shanghai departure (B)
Enjoy your free time in Shanghai until transferring to the airport for your flight back to US.
